I do agree that a routines are more efficient, but we seem to be happiest when we are out of our routine. Why do people seek variety in their life, let it be their vacation, car, or partner. In order to be happy with a routine, do you think it requires certain characteristic? Only few, as you pointed out, managed to be truly happy living a routine.
